FAQ
WHAT IF I AM PREGNANT or BREASTFEEDING?
We would love to whiten your teeth after you have your baby. This is because there is an absence of evidence showing the safety of peroxide on a baby. However, it has never been proven to be harmful either, but to be safe, please wait to whiten your teeth.
WHAT DO I DO AFTER I WHITEN MY TEETH?
***AVOID food items that would stain a white t-shirt for 2-3 hours or longer for best results. This is important because teeth have pores that will absorb anything with color.***
1. Acid beverages: Fruit juice and alcohol (to avoid increased irritation after whitening)
2. Added coloring: Soy sauce, red meat, red sauce, catsup, chocolate, & balsamic vinegar
3. Colorful spices: Paprika or turmeric
4. Dark or colored liquids: Coffee, tea, red wine, cola, tomato juice
5. Highly pigmented berries: Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries.
6. Powdered cheese: Macaroni and cheese or cheese doodles
****If you have to eat or drink these items try to brush your teeth afterward to prevent staining after whitening***
WHAT CAN I EAT AFTER WHITENING?
Of course, you can eat whatever you want, these are only options to promote your teeth whitening results.
Skinless turkey or chicken, white fish, rice, uncolored pasta, bread, egg whites, white cheese, potatoes, and cauliflower, plain yogurt, tofu, oatmeal, almonds, cashews, bananas, chickpeas, and white chocolate. Drink water to ensure saliva production, white wine, milk, coconut water, and coconut milk.
*Avoid any food on the list if you have an allergy to it.
Sensitivity?
It is a possibility that sensitivity will occur after teeth whitening. Most of the time, sensitivity does not occur, but it is a possibility that it can happen due to dehydration of the teeth during whitening. You may experience “zingers,” for 6 to 24 hours after whitening. We can decrease sensitivity with an application of remineralization.
wicked white teeth!
We will do our best to get your teeth wicked white! Factors such as smoking, drinking coffee, tea, or wine, and genetics will influence how fast your teeth will whiten and how white they will get. Teeth whitening will lighten the stains, and to keep them white you may need an intermittent touch-up!
Does whitening damage the teeth?
Teeth whitening is safe and will not damage your teeth. The whitening process uses carbamide peroxide which opens the teeth pores and lightens the stains. After the treatment, avoid eating and drinking anything that can stain a white t-shirt because when the pores are open they may absorb color. The pores will close over 24 hours.
How Long Will My Whitening last?
The lasting results depend on your habits and genetics. Over time the teeth will naturally become stained again. Some people have a monthly maintenance touch-up. Some come every three months and others return after six months.
What if I have veneers or crowns?
Teeth whitening can not whiten veneers or crowns because the color is a permanent creation. Teeth whitening can only affect natural teeth.
